mpris-remote software package provides command-line interface for mpris compatible media players, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install mpris-remote
mpris-remote is installed in your system.
Make ensure the mpris-remote package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep mpris-remote *
You will get with mpris-remote package name, version, architecture and description in a table
